LASIK / The Process
1. Personal Consultation
During your free, personal consultation, you will tour our facility and meet with Dr. Caster.
We will learn about your eyes and about your medical history and take multiple measurements of your eyes. You will then meet with Dr. Caster. He will determine if you are a candidate for laser vision correction, discuss your expected result, and discuss all your options with you. Dr. Caster will sit with you and answer all of your questions. (He is very patient!) If you wish to continue the process, the complete eye examination can be performed at this time. The complimentary consultation takes about 90 minutes, and the complete eye examination an additional 30 minutes. The fee for the complete eye examination is $100 and is applied to your treatment cost.
2. Your Treatment
Today is the day! You will arrive wearing glasses (contact lenses need to be discontinued for a few days prior) and leave without wearing glasses. Plan on being in our office for about 2 1/2 hours. We will perform additional measurements and explain in detail how the procedure will go. You will be fully prepared for a surprisingly easy experience.
We give you relaxing medicine (Xanax). It’s like having a few drinks and our patients really appreciate the calming effects. You will get numbing eye drops. The laser treatment is amazingly quick — on average about 30 seconds per eye. There are no injections, no IVs, and absolutely no pain! Just relaxing medicine, numbing eye drops, and invisible laser light.
You will sit up and SEE! Your vision will initially be a little foggy, but you will see better than before, and as the day goes on your vision will get clearer and clearer!
3. The Next Day
This day will be most likely one of the most memorable days in your entire life! You will wake up, and you can see — without glasses, without contact lenses. Just your own eyes — FREEDOM. Drive, go to work, or just have fun — you can do almost anything you want the very next day. And keep pinching yourself, because this is real. ENJOY your new vision!
