LASIK surgery results of 20/20 or better have been achieved time and time again. While improvements are usually visible immediately afterwards, don’t take it for granted just yet. It’s important to remember that you just had an operation, and like all procedures, you have to take certain precautions. To achieve the best possible result, follow these three easy steps.
After your surgery, it’s crucial to monitor the healing process of your eye. Set up a series of appointments with your doctor and follow through on them.
Avoid anything that might irritate your eyes. This means that you should stay out of your attic, wear sunglasses, sleep with eye guards, and take naps. Most importantly, don’t rub your eyes. As a general rule of thumb, avoid straining your vision, as well as any activities that may involve contact with your eyes like sports.
Irritants You Should Avoid:
- Dust
- Pollen
- Eye makeup
- Chemical vapors
Your doctor is an experienced veteran in his field. He should have years of experience on his belt and a degree to prove it. Trust his knowledge and follow his instructions to a T. You’ll be glad you did.
